Dorothea Frazil is a Editor for the Oxford Mail newspaper. Her name is a pun on Frazil ice vs. thaw in a scene at the Oxford Mail newspaper. She was portrayed by Abigail Thaw, the real-life daughter of the original Inspector Morse actor John Thaw. She became friends with the young Endeavour Morse, which turned into a sibling-like relationship. She first appears in the Endeavour pilot episode ''Overture''.
Almost nothing is known about Dorothea's life outside of her interactions with Morse. She previously spent time in Korea during the 1950's covering the War and later published a book with her writings (Quartet).
